Is there a reason NOT to love it?

Hmmm… no, so let me list some of the reasons TO love it~

1. Ice and Fire~

Ah, yes. The prideful prince learns to care about something other then himself.
A classic.

Alright, let me launch myself into a rant here-

Sesshomaru, in recent chapters, went to go visit his mother, one thing leads toanother and Rin ends up dead. Again. However, knowing that he cannot save her, Sesshomaru looks like someone just ran over his puppy. That’s right, sad. EMOTIONS, PEOPLE! HE LEANRS TO LOVE! (and what it feels like to lose someone dear and ACTUALLY CARE.)

2. Cute and Cold~

What can I say? Oppisites attract. Their contrasting personalities just seem like peanut butter and jelly. Ice cream and whipped cream. Bannas and fudge. Sweet and smooth and oh-so satisfying.

3. Something for everyone~

The Sess/Rin pairing has something for everyone. Uh… If you … um… like…Loli… or if you just think that grown-up Rin and Sess would be too cute to pass up, it doesn’t matter!

4. Versitallity~

Variety is the spice of life. And no matter if it’s Doujin or FanFics, the Sess/Rin pairing can fit into any category.

5. The wall crumbles~

Sesshomaru is strong willed, that’s for sure. To see someone so insignificant break that will just makes me squeal. It’s quite clear that Sesshomaru is determined not to let himself fall for a human, less he make the same “mistake” his father made. Whelp a half-breed and die saving his woman. We here at Moonlight-Flower believe he’s obviously going to fail. ^.~

Well, those are the major reasons to love, and in my opinoins very good ones.
If you ever find yourself asking “I hate! What should I do?” The answer is simple, “Don’t.”

When Sess made his first appearance, I thought he was cool; I liked his character but expected him to be nothing more than a cold hearted, evil to the core, silver haired, beautiful villian. A bit part that cropped up now and again to the further the plot.

Then he met Rin. Then he actually asked Rin “What happened to your face?” (I nearly fell off my chair at that! Here was a completely self absorbed, evil, power hungry demon, who was asking a child what happened to her face! The fact that he was even aware of something besides himself enough to say something like that floored me!) THEN Rin SMILED at him and I fell completely in love with Sess as soon as I saw his reaction. There is nothing I like better than when someone completely cold and emotionally distant learns how to love.

Of course, the reason I sought out and return to fanfiction is because the core material is just not ENOUGH. The anime just didn’t have enough Sess/Rin in my opinion, and so I went looking for more. I stumbled across the concept that Sess and an adult Rin would work as a couple and it was like a revelation to me. Of COURSE Rin–who was the only one in the anime/manga to touch Sess’s heart–would be suited to be his mate/love interest.

B4 Sess/Rin started dominating my muse’s time and efforts, I had dabbled with writing Kenshin/Kaoru fanfic, but writing Kenshin just really infuriated me even though I love reading about this couple. I think Kenshin is A) still deeply soul wounded because he gave up control of his sword and killing to someone else, someone whom he didn’t trust implicitly and B) emotionally and mentally crippled because when he made his vow not to kill anymore, he completely rejected that part of him that had been the killer, the Battousai.

Sesshoumaru is such a startlingly complex character; but at the same time, so much of him is still mysterious, the fanfic plots and character development possible makes him and Rin a very attractive pairing to write.

I really really really wish I was one of those writers who could write pages of GOOD stuff easily. I have so many plot bunnies hopping around in my head, but so few make it to actual writing and even fewer make it to extended storyline, its sad Sad I hate it when fanfic authors leave stories unfinished…but I’m guilty of the same thing myself. *cries*

So to wander back on subject, I love Sess/Rin. I love watching Rin thaw his cold heart, and him being caught up in caring for Rin more and more despite his opinion of humans and his pride. Very Happy.

Well, I´m for Rin/Sess pairing (and this is true, they´re the best of InuYasha couples to me) because all the meaning that lies behind their actions about each other.

Despite him being a youkai who everyone fear, and apparently not a reliable kind of life, Sesshoumaru shows the opposite towards Rin. She has shown him what´s unconditional love since the first time they met, when she tries to take care of him – without even not knowing him – and what he calls “a test for Tenseiga” could be really a test, but why would he care about her? It would be the way he could pay her back for her kindness, at the beginning…

But he keeps her along with him, Ah-Un and Jaken; their story together shows that he learns how to love her – he learns how to see people through the mask of his own prejudice. He starts loving Rin, just for being Rin. He protects her and goes after her every time she´s been threatened by Naraku, Kohaku or anybody else- so, it´s clear, HE WANTS HER NEAR HIM… and it´s so beautiful… see how can love put some great barriers aside, through the innocence of a girl (we can´t say she had any kind of interest of being with him – no one but feel his presence for her to be around) and this innocence put all the malice a youkai may have to the ground. We see this on the so-called episode when he rescues her on hell, and thinks that “nothing is worth of exchange for Rin´s life”, and he CRIES!!! So, he loves her, and not only in a fatherly way…men like to protect, to make their companions feel safe, and I think when Rin grows older – I really hope RT makes we all see this before finishing the story – the main male presence around her, her main reference, will be her Sesshoumaru- sama. She´ll not want less than him, and he, I´m sure he´ll want somebody as good as him (or better, if it´s possible *aham*) for her, because it´s what he thinks she deserves, because he cares for her…another kind of love will blossom naturally. Any doubt they are supposed to be together??? Forever????

Sesshoumaru/Rin has always been my favourite couple for more than four years now and it all started from the entrance of our beloved Rin. Before Rin appears, I’ve always thought that Sesshoumaru-sama is just a cold-hearted youkai who despises mortal which he still does even after 47 such volumes. However, his relationship with this unique human girl has captured my attention.

At first, my sister and I were watching random episodes of Inuyasha (yes we were skipping on some epi.) and then at some point we noticed this cute girl was travelling with this impassive-looking youkai and we were like “why is this girl following him?” and curious beings as we are, I went back to the earlier episodes and finally discovered episode 35, the first encounter between Sesshoumaru-sama and Rin, which I was quite amazed about.

One of the reasons of why I’ve become a fangirl of Sess/Rin is the “Relation/Relationship” between Sesshoumaru-sama and Rin. The thought of a taiyoukai like Sesshoumaru-sama, who has absolutely no connection with anyone nor does he need such nuisance, of him having a relation with a human girl seemed too far-fetched. And what I meant by “connection” is not in the context of as blood-related, but more like a link/relation with others like friendship, rivalry etc. But however far-fetched the encounter between Sesshoumaru-sama and Rin seems, and however far-fetched that a human girl is travelling with a youkai seems, it is “A Dreamlike Reality” to us fangirls!!!!! And this dreamlike reality of Sesshoumaru-sama and Rin being together has caught all my attention. Sesshoumaru-sama’s relationship with Rin is not just an ordinary one but a Deep, Mysterious and Unique one!!!

The other reason is Sesshoumaru-sama’s exhibition of his soft attitude towards Rin, sorry please let me rephrase this *cough*his Apparent soft attitude*cough* even though he tries his best to hide it. This simply fascinates me the most and thus I’ve become a crazy fangirl of Sess/Rin as I am now. I LOVE Sess/Rin!!! Please forgive me if I sound insane to you!!!

My obsession actually started with Sess. He was such a PRETTY boy all nicely drawn up in the anime *clears throat*. But I got over that shallowness pretty quickly when I realize his characterization was so complex.

For the most part, his actions were never delved into so the audience was pretty much left to make their own interpretation. (Pretty frustrating to me at times but yet it allows for such flexibility in fanfic writing). He seems such a “peaceful” person on the surface until he gets riled up. (Better back off and watch the fireworks start).

When Rin came on the scene, he had to re-evaluate his entire perspective and his belief structure that was so ingrained into his system. Apparently, he found them wanting and evolved because of her existence but he still seems to struggle about that balance at times.

That adorable girl stood for EVERYTHING he was against but his feelings (yes..love) for her seemed inevitable and inescapable… just like breathing. Who can deny what love is able to accomplish even in the most hardened, most cynical of hearts ???!! yeah baby…(I absolutely adore a romantic S/olderR pairing!!!)

To see a helpless girl able to wrap a mighty lord around her little fingers and he allows her to (no…she’s not manipulative in her hold over him) makes my heart go ga-ga over these two. She’s brought him to his proverbial knees.

I think our Sess is very much perturbed by Rin. She makes him vulnerable to emotions and he probably feels defenceless and a lot exposed as the walls around his heart start to crumble away.

When I first saw the series I was like “it’s okay” but I liked the manga better. Especially since I ahd found the volume with Sesshomaru in it. So I gwave the show a chance, started surfing the net for some more info on it & discovered there’s this little girl character named “Rin” who joins his group. Well the more I read about her the more intrigued I was until she finally appeared!

You could see right from the start their relationship was different from any other Sesshomaru had with anyone so far on the show. Let’s face it, he’s not enamored of humans and yet instead of ignoring her, or killing her, (as killing a tiny lil thing like Rin, should have been easy for him despite his injuries), he starts up what is basically a one-sided conversation with her. And when he realizes she’s dead, instead of going on his merry way, he doubles back to find her. Rin is the first one we see him use the Tensaiga on as it was meant to be used. So you know there’s got to be something more to this relationship.

Plus he doesn’t treat her like a child. Even though Jaken is often left behind to babysit her, Inuyasha often leaves Kagome behind with the others to look after her & no claims they’re her babysitters. And if you look closely you’ll see the same intense look on Sessh’s face when Rin’s in trouble that you do on Inuyasha’s face whenever Kagome’s in trouble. Despite her age, she’s his woman and Sessh’ll kick your butt if you mess with her! ;p

There’s also precidence for their relationship in Japanese literature. In the Tale of Genji, Genji finds an orphan girl that he takes into his home, raises and as soon as she’s of age he marries her. Sound familiar? ;p

Do I think these two are going to wind up together? Yes…because doesn’t Sesshmom work things so that Sessh is tested by going after Rin & a rvial for her affections? ;p He doesn’t even think twice about going after them, which says something, especial in front of his mother.

When I first saw Inuyasha, I actually did think Rin was Sesshomaru’s daughter or perhaps something else, I couldn’t tell really. She looked so much different than he did, I wasn’t very sure of her relation to him.

So as I watched the series and got more and more utterly obsessed with it, (one character in particular *cough*) I found out who she was and their complex relationship with one another. Shortly afterward, the idea of Sesshomaru specifically as a father just didn’t hold ground with me.

After reading the manga and the ending, I have kept this belief. Sesshomaru and Rin have a complicated, undefined bond to one another that I don’t think either quite understand. And while we’ll never find out what their ultimate path will be in the future when Rin is more than a naive young child, I am sure they will be on that path together.

Sesshoumaru has been my fave character from the beginning. He’s just so nice to look at and fun to watch in battle!
After Rin’s appearance, Sesshoumaru/Rin relationship has become my obsession. 

I think somehow it is fitting for someone like him, a proud, solitary, powerful and detatched guy(I guess daiyoukai) to be with someone like Rin, just so innocent and pure, with strength to follow her heart.
Someone so otherworldly like Sesshoumaru SHOULD be in an otherworldly relationship I say!

I like how their relationship is “one of a kind”, a unique one that is not easily defined. In both manga and anime, their relationship is purely platonic, and they themselves don’t seem to know what it is yet. They are just together instinctively (it seems to me) and it is beautiful! (I am hopeless)

My ideal development for this couple is that they gradually recognize their own feelings (as Rin grows up) and eventually fall madly in love with each other….I’m sure I’ll never see that to happen, since they are not main characters and Naraku will be dead before Rin gets to grow up.

I like Sess/Rin because it is a relationship that is controversial (within the storyline).

Demon/Human relationships are definately frowned upon, so right away you know theres going to be a struggle (angst!). The characters are going to have to admit to themselves and the world that *yes* they are in love, and no, theres nothing wrong with that. I may just be a hopeless romantic, but that kind of love–the love that is tested over and over again–is one of my favorite types.

Of course, thats just one aspect to my obession with the couple Very Happy

Another aspect is Character development. Before Rin, Sesshomaru was a cold, rutheless….well, there’s no other word for it, racist youkai.

Okay, so he’s not exactly warm and fuzzy now….more like luke-warm. Hm, well, maybe not even that….just below room tempurature? Well anyhow, he’s not nearly as frosty as he was. Laughing

And okay, so he’s not exactly hugging orphans and rescuing kittens, but he’s not as rutheless as he was before either.

And hmm…for a guy that claims to hate humans, he sure has a funny way of showing it ^_^ By ressurecting a human girl, letting her travel with him and protecting her? Yah, something going on there.

For the most part, I think he probably still doesn’t care all that much for humans….(hell, half the time I can’t blame him) but he saved Rin, and things changed. He changed.

Rin showed Sesshomaru that not all humans are bad.

I think most people *coughAmericansCough* when they consider Rin/Sess as a relationship, they wonder “Why didn’t RT make her older if she meant for them to be together?” I know I did.

After much consideration, I don’t think it could have occured any other way with Sesshomaru’s personality.

If Rin had been older I think he would have left her behind. He would know instantly that a human woman would fall in love with him and the LAST thing he wanted was to follow his fathers footsteps.

But a child? A little girl struggling to survive….well thats harmless enough. Oh sure, there would be the possibility of her falling in love with him when she’s older. But that would be much later. He’d have time to squash that fancy before it even started.

I don’t think he counted on the fact that he’d fall in love with her too. That she’d worm her way into his heart, and he’d find himself caring for her, too late to stop it.

IMHO, the relationship would have been stopped before it even started if Rin had been older.

Sesshomaru’s one tough nut to crack….and I think the only one that will ever be able to do that is Rin.
